How to make your bed step by step

It's back-to-school season and some of you are still on holiday and looking forward to returning home to your routines and beds. Even if you have slept in the most comfortable and luxurious beds while on holiday, nothing can replace the bond you have with your bed.

Our bed is our refuge, a safe place and it should also receive special treatment. Unfortunately, most people have not been taught how to make a bed properly.

You are wrong if you think making your bed is just pulling up the pillows and putting back the blanket. Making a bed is so much more than that and we will show you how to make your bed step by step:

Do not make your bed straight away when you wake up. Let your sheets breathe and get fresh air because all night you were wrapped up inside - You have probably sweated and some dead skin also fell off. It's best to let bacteria and odours fade away while you shower, get ready or eat.

One of the most important steps in making a bed is dusting the sheets to remove dust and invisible dirt. Not dusting is what causes pimples and itching. You can put back the pillows and duvet after these steps.

All of this is worthless if you don't wash your sheets once a week and pillows every 2 or 4 months on a spin cycle or hand wash with warm water. You also have to wash your duvet as it can carry mites which can cause breathing problems, coughing, sneezing, asthma attacks as well as skin and eye irritation

This can sound insane but making your bed also involves vacuuming your mattress on both sides with baking soda - Ideally let it soak in for an hour. Do this at least once a week when you change your sheets.

Do not forget to also clean decorative cushions, throws and fabric headboards even if you don’t sleep on them.

Another step to properly make your bed is ironing the sheets. If you don’t have time or don’t like to iron, there are many cleaning services that can do it for you. If you can’t afford someone or a service, you can do it yourself.

By following these steps you will limit and stop the excess build-up of dead skin, bacteria and dust. We also suggest you to avoid laying on your bed with your outdoor clothes. This will save your skin and also your health.
