Pressure on the neck

We often talk about body care, skincare, haircare, and nurturing ourselves, but we rarely talk about taking care of our neck.

Did you know that the neck is one of the most sensitive areas of the body? The skin on the neck is particularly thinner than the one on the face. Unfortunately, because of the lack of attention we pay to it, the neck is one of the first areas affected by skin aging.

Your neck = your face

The neck is also affected by the same environmental aggressions and UV exposure as the face. Indeed, our neck is an extension of our face, which means that everything we do for our face, we must also do the same for our neck. Whether it's skincare, the way you use the product, or the way you massage it, it shouldn't be different for your neck.

Just like your face, your neck also needs attention and care. I recommend that you use the same skincare products on your neck as well. The good news is that we don't need a new routine to take care of our neck!

As you exfoliate your face do the same for your neck too, this will remove the small dead skin and stimulate the blood circulation. A very thin texture scrub is perfect because you don't need to over-exfoliate your neck. On the other hand, we have to be gentle in all our movements. I recommend you to apply your products from the bottom to the top because it will prevent the skin of the neck from being pulled or stretched. And don't forget the back of your neck too!

Hydratation is the key

In our late 20s, we lose a certain amount of hyaluronic acid, collagen, and skin elasticity naturally present in our bodies.

That's why it's ideal to use thick and rich creams to keep our neck as moisturized as possible. Let's not forget to add SPF which is for daily use regardless of the seasons. Moreover, SPF is for everyone: women, men, young, old, black, white...This combination of cream and sunscreen will reduce collagen loss, skin elasticity, and UV damage.

Must-have ingredients for our neck

While many hydrating creams and masks specifically designed for the neck exist, you are on the right path as long as your products have these ingredients:

  • Products with collagen will help to have that lifting, revitalizing effect, and the presence of an antioxidant inside protects us from the harsh environment

  • Hyaluronic acids are the perfect anti-aging allies

  • If hyperpigmentation is your concern (which can be caused by using perfume on the neck) there is also Vitamin C which will help strengthen the skin and small blood cells

You should consider using serums as they have smaller particles that are more likely to penetrate the skin.

Let's not neglect taking care of our neck! Most of us like our foundation to match our face and neck. For this reason, we should also want our neck to get the same attention as our face so that they can look nice and unified together. So don't hesitate to put the pressure on the neck but do it softly.

Good to know: The skin of the face is one of the most resistant skins on our body. It is the one that is in direct contact with the outside world. On the opposite, the neck or body is more vulnerable because it is usually hidden by layers of clothing that help as extra protection.
